City Approves Affordable Senior Housing at Shoenberg Farms

City Council approves 72 units on 4.5-acre site
Westminster City Council recently approved 72 units of senior housing in the Shoenberg Farms development on the south side of 73rd Avenue at Ames Street. The affordable rental housing is on a 4.5-acre site.
The three-story residential building is designed in a contemporary farmhouse style. Brick, stucco, window style and other design details are coordinated with the historic Shoenberg Farm buildings that are east of the site. All units will have a balcony or a private patio.
On-site amenities include a rooftop terrace at the southwest corner of the building, several outdoor garden areas, outdoor seating with trellises, outdoor fireplace and a beauty salon for residents.
Parking for 110 cars will be available for residents. A landscaped north to south drive aisle at the east edge of the site will provide access to 73rd Avenue as well as a connection to the signalized intersection at 72nd Avenue.
Jefferson County Housing Authority is the developer of the residential building. With the residential approval, the City Council also approved an amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan to change the land use from mixed-use to R-18.
A timeline for construction has not yet been announced.
